Too long to wait?

I'm un the UK under the NHS and cannot afford to see a doctor privately. I am on holiday for 10 days from tomorrow.

At the end of September my GP sent a letter referring me back to the cardiologist because of a recurrence of chest pains, fitting a typically anginal description and relieved by GTN. Since then I have had one really bad attack. The others have been fairly minor, precipitated by exertion or stress, but I did have two on Tuesday evening when I was merely at my computer - albeit after a hard day.

Does this seem a long wait to you?

My plans are:
If I get a bad episode or increasing rest attacks I will go to A & E
When I see my GP on the 26th, I will ask if she can get it brought forward

You should see a doctor as soon as possible. The instructions I received leaving ICU for heart failure was to go to emergency for chest pains. Especially, serious if one has a history of ischemia with stable angina (occurs with exertion) and advances to unstable angina (happens at rest, but mental stress may be considered exertion?!).

The angina may be a serious symptom as pain indicates lack of blood flow to the heart, and the lack oxygen can kill heart muscle cells. Necrosis of heart cells can happen with or WITHOUT pain. The degree of pain you feel is not a very good indicator of a serious episode! I didn't have chest pain, nor any warning, and cell damaged caused congested heart failure.
