Post 3 am

Well, it's 3 am , we go t' morrow ( today) for another echo ( 4th). We shall see if it corelates with the other's. Sooner or later I guess I'll have answer's, I was
just hoping it would be sooner rather than later.
Thanx for listening, Lupine

Let us know how things go. When did he have his first echo and what did that say?

I hope you get some answers. Sometimes it feels almost as bad to get no answers rather than bad ones..because your always wondering....
Good luck.

My husbands first echo was in April of 2000. He was bleeding while asleep, and I did'nt know what was wrong. When his Dr. saw him they thougt pnuemonia, or bronchitis. They scheduled an echo immediately.
He had always been heavy, but very strong. My bp was higher than his!!But now when I look at his records, the Dr. who scheduled his first echo, claimed to know nothing of redux , or phen-fen, has on the records, patient had taken redux in past. It took a while for me to decipher his scribble.I feel betrayed by him and his associates, they never told us redux could cause this or that there was even a chance he could be this ill, All they said was quote>he is a very sick man>.
Not until I saw a commercial, that redux can cause enlarged hearts, did it click and I got the ball rolling. Now I can't be sure if he will be by my side as we age, the fear is enormous, but the Drs. code of silence that they gave us is terrible. His first echo is as following>nomal l ventricularfunction>right side enlargement>l- atriumenlargement>hypertrophy of l- vent w/diastolic dysfunction and decreased compliance>mitral valve thickening w/mild regurgitation>dilated aorta, mild stenosis and minimal stenosis>mild pulmonic insuffiency and minimal >stenosis>mild to moderatepulminary hypertension> suggest further clinical coorelation and possible TEE if indicated. Translation to me? Unknown Im just a rest, mngr.Sorry I take so long , it's a relief to have someone listen. Thankyou, Lupine

Hello Lupine....how did your husband's echo go? I agree with you about the fact that Dr.'s want to stay as far away as possible from the law suit pending from phen-fen. I'm 28 and was diagnosed with severe Mitral Regurgitaion (4+) with an enlarged heart that is close to heart failure. I'm have open-heart surgery on Sept. 24th to hopefully repair the valve and if not replace. This is such a scary thing to be going through and I'm glad there is someone else who I can communicate with. I may be able to help you in regards to the result of the echo? What kinds of medications is he currently on? I will pray that everything will be ok! Godbless...

Thanx Nikkit, We don't have results yet. But Monday I had to rush him to er, they kept him,his ekg kind of freaked out the er chief. They had to put him on nitro patch to reduce bp.He stayed on it for 3 days. I'm getting a rush on the last echo, so I should know soon. When he went in er , we did'nt mention phen-fen or redux , I let the drs do thier own conclusions, well his regular cardiologist has left town, a temp took his place, and he may have a brain, he scheduled a heart cath, should be soon. His bp is nearly uncontrolable. I sure would like to know if anyone's early sympton's were bleeding from either nose or mouth, I can't help but feel it's significant. Thanx for being there, tails are wagging .com Lupine
