34yr F ,SVT , Meds - Heart Disorders Message Board

I'm 34yrs old. I've had problems for years... ex. tiredness, racing,pounding heart rate, skipped beats, extra beats, light-headed , dizziness. Through the years seemed to come & go in spells. Saw Dr's & always seemed to get brushed off to nothing because I'm a woman & I'm young so I must just be tired...."get some rest,etc".
1998, had some bad spells where I'd feel & hear a "pop" in my chest & start to fall over.My heart would race & all I could do was lay down [on my left side seemed best]& was left exhausted for hours. Saw a Cardiologist, who was awful ... was convinced w/o examining me that there was no way I had a heart problem. My husband & I demanded tests . Did a 48 hr Holter monitor & Echo. Tried to get a hold of the Cardiologist for weeks for results , he never would take my call ,just sent message to me that I was fine. Finally got someone to read me results.. they showed a Regurgitating heart valve. That was it. They said it's no big deal ,didn't need to be seen anymore.My problems continued.
This past Dec.[2001] my "spells" got worse & haven't gone away. Seem to have them more than not. My family DR. ,after again ruling out Thyroid,etc. ordered an Event Monitor. The results: SVT's
This past Saturday, "the room flipped upside down" & I ended up on the floor.Saw my Dr on Monday & he says he wants me to take 1/2 of Toprol XL 25mg & 1 Digoxin 125mg a day. Go back in 3 weeks for level check.
All he has said is that the Av node basically sends the messages astray. Says my choices are meds the rest of my life or Ablation.
I don't know what the cause of all this is.
What do I need to know about these meds ? Dr didn't up much info. I have good blood pressure , is there a risk these meds could lower my it & cause me a problem ? What about interactions to foods , herbs other meds ? What over the counter meds should be avoided ? About the only thing I ever use is Tylenol, occasional Alleve, Sudafed, Cranberries [for Urinary Health] & Elderberry . Are there any problems w/ these & the meds he wants me on ?
Any info [meds or SVT,etc] ,suggestions ?
I'm just trying to get a grip on all this.

HAVE YOU HAD A EKG? HEART ATTACK? I HAD ALL THESE SAME SYMPTOMS AND HOW ARE YOU DOING? WHERE ARE YOU AT RIGHT NOW WITH YOUR MEDS?
