can anyone describe the sensation to me?

i thought i was having esophogeal spasms with no pain... but now i'm wondering. i have this spasm/flutter/squeezing feeling in my chest very suddenly. it only lasts seconds, but it feels like my breathing just stops cold and doesn't resume until it's over. the sensation feels like it's in the middle of my chest, though, not on the left.

has anyone had this? or can you tell me what your a-fib feels like? i've already had one stroke (before my asd was repaired) so it's important to me to figure this out...

I have been diagnosed with afib on november, three months ago, the symptoms i had was vibration in my chest, fast heart beats, bp was elevated suddenly.these symptoms occur when i lying down, not during any streneous activities.

You should still do an EKG when these symptoms occur , it will show a definite afib.

I have had very similar episodes and also thought it was my esophogus. I have PVC's and lately a vibrating feeling through my body along with numbness of my extremeties which usually starts at night while I'm sleeping. Unfortunately, I cannot help you because I too am trying to get answers. My intern is sending me to a neurologist for some reason. I am a 38 year old female so the heart is not the first thing they think of. Hope you find your answer. Take good care of yourself.

You really don't want to know how atrial fib feels like believe me. Having your heart feel like it is going to jump out of your chest at any minute is not fun. Along with your heart racing like a thoroughbred horse, you start to sweat intensely because your heart is working so fast. Not only that, you start to lack oxygen and gasp for air. I had A-Fib for over 5 years until I ended up having my second cardiac ablation. My heart used beat 270bpm when I had A-Fib. I am very glad that I don't have those episodes now at least, but they may come back.
