Question 24 hr monitor reading?

HI,
I just recently wore the monitor and my Dr. is gone until Monday. He had another Dr call with the results and it showed that I had (1) isolated ventricular contraction, I had 4 runs of rapid heartrate and premature beats from atrial. I am having some pain in my back as I am writing this. I got up to move to get the paper I had the results wrote on and when I got back to the chair as I was writing. Now it has stopped. My Dr. will be in on Monday. I had complained of heavy palpitations sometimes that feel like my heart is coming out of my chest. While I had the monitor on it didn't do the heavy beats but I documented each time my heart did the different timing I can tell. What advice do any of you have? Thanks I am a little more worried than I should be? I am now not feeling any pains and am setting down. So this comes and goes. Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Nonutkid

Hi.
Well, its been monday, so I guess you've seen your doc? It sounds like you are experiencing what I once has PSVT (paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia). If so, it relly depends on the location, severity, and etiology as to the degree that you need to be worried. Your physician will be able to tell you this after performing an electrocardiogram (EKG) and reviewing the results of the Holter monitor.

Common medications used to treat this are AV node suppresants such as Digoxin. This is used to impair conduction from the top of the heart to the bottom. Thus giving you an abnormal but regular heartbeat ventricullarly.

Surgery can also be performed where an electrical device is used to deaden the problem conduction parts of the heart, allowing the original conductor (SA node) to be in controll.

contact your physician for more info.

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I just got off the phone with my Dr. and he is upping the dose of my blood pressure medications to see if that helps. I said is my heart ok? He said oh yeah, it just has tacycardia more heartbeats. Wow , I guess that it is not that serious. Thanks again for your response.

Hello. I don't want to scare you. But I reccommend that you go see a cardiologist even if it's just for a consultation. The reason I suggest this is because ventricular tachycardia is pretty serious and atrial fibrillation although not terribly serious if controlled by medication has a cause and needs to be further investigated. It could be nothing but please get the results of your test and get a second opionion.

Thanks prettywoman,
I will go and see a cardiologist....They say the Dr.s miss diagnosing women with heart problems. I will check that avenue and hopefully it will be nothing. Thank you again,
