Ive been dx with coronary artery disease, have had a quadruple by-pass and 2 stents done in the past 4 months as well as a St. Judes mechanical mitral valve, my question is how long until the water retention stops? Im on 2 diuretics, was 3 but last hospital stay dr removed 1. Im so tired of the swelling. Thankyou, lupines
It depends on how well your heart's function remains for the next little while. You could be looking, though, at a few weeks before the significant swelling has reduced.
Thankyou, the drs estimate the water retention at apprx. 30 lbs.. isnt that just as harmful to me??Isnt it straing a heart that has still to deal with 3 surgeries? It slows me down considerably. Thankyou, Lupines
Did your doctor mention congestive heart failure? If you have heart damage your heart may not be able to pump hard enough which causes fluid retention. If that is the case it would not go away, but could be treated with diuretics.
