I am 34 and was diagnosed with svt two years ago, although I have only had four or five episodes, they have caused a great deal of worry which has led to anxiety attacks. I have been on a beta blocker for about 1 year.. My question is: laser ablation with the risk of a pacemaker (or a great outcome) or medication and it's side effects for years to come??

Hi!

I'm having an ablation on Monday and am excited yet apprehensive about it. I went for the pre-admission tests yesterday and they gave me more details of what to expect.

I was first diagnosed with SVT in 1998 & have had many, many episodes. I went through 9 diff't meds before I landed with Atenolol. This worked for about a year & a half then the episodes started breaking through that one too. My opinion may change after the ablation, but for now I am optimistic that this procedure will cure the problem & result in no more meds

I think this is a decision you will have to make on your own, with a lot of information on the pros & cons.

Thanks for the input!! I sure do wish you the best and would love to here from you after your ablation. Wow no meds and SVT free, sounds great uh?!?! I go back to my cardio dr. on the 8th to further discuss ablation. They have me on Toprol XL now and it seems to be working ok, but it still makes me tired and the daily stress of it all is continuous.... I would love to hear from you again-----
