Aortic Valve Insufficiency
I was just told that I have Aortic Valve Insufficiency, so I looked up the info and read that depending on the symptoms, its treated with either medication and observed, or cured with replacement valve surgery. My only symptoms are palps which usually flare up when I'm resting, especially when lying down on my left side and to a lesser degree, my right side. The palps seem to coincide with my blood sugar getting low (I'm hypoglycemic). I thought it was just a symptom of the hypo, but at my last appointment, my doc detected a murmur and ordered an echo. They now want me to consult a cardiologist about it. Can anyone add any more insight on this from experience? I read surgery cures it, but how dangerous is the surgery? I'm a 37 y/o male with no other problems, 6'3" 205 lbs. and not too active (but I don't just lay around either). I also became mildly hypertensive about 3 years ago (155/95) and am now taking medication to normalize it. Thanks!
