I am constantly feeling my heartbeat. Sometimes it's slow, but pounding other times it is rapid and pounding, but it's always there, constantly. I realize that this is possibly anxiety, but this is not relived by ativan or xanax. It clears my head but I still can feel it. I was watching TV last night and had the remote on my chest and I could see it rattling with my heartbeat. It's stuff like this that makes me confused as to if I have a problem with something else. Other characteristic is sometimes I can feel it pounding in my upper chest, sometimes in my stomach, left side at different times in the day, has anyone experienced these sensations?
Have you been seen by a Cardiologist?? That is the first step. An EKG should be performed. The next step would be an echocardiogram. Please get checked by a cardiologist ASAP.
I've recently developed very similar symptoms; and learned that my 80+ year old mother has had them for all her adult life.
FYI, I've had REGULAR cat scans (4), a NUCLEAR cat scan, echocardiagrams (2), NUCLEAR stress test, holter monitor, etc. - virtually every test known to humankind - all without a clear diagnosis. My pulse is (except for one episode of atrial fib) regular, but the "flutter" or "pounding" (I describe it as the feeling of being at the top of a drop on a high roller coaster) continues.
