Question When is it time to go to the ER?

I have had a prior silent MI and have CAD. From time to time I have some chest discomfort and if it really is distressing I call my GP who tells me to go to the ER. Each time I have been to the ER it turns out not to be cardiac. I have read the warning signs of a heart attack, but they always make the vague comment about ‘just to be sure’.
When is it necessary to go to the ER?

Donsabi do you take nitro? My doctor prescribed nitro and I'm to take 1 every five minutes until the pain stops. If after 3 the pain has not stopped I am to go to the emergency room. If you don't use nitro and you feel those symptoms go the the ER. It is just not worth it to avoid going because you may be embarrassed if it's not cardiac related. Just because those tests are telling them it's not cardiac that is not necessarily so. Sometimes the tests miss problems.
