questions about beta drugs and side effects - Heart Disorders Message Board

I've been on propranolol going on 3 weeks now..it doesn't work all that well for my symptoms of SVT and high blood pressure..I do notice more "flutters" is this just me or can the drug cause that when it is supposed to control it..also, if I switched to Atenolol to try that,would I have to wean or can I just go from one to the other immediately.

I have been on propranolol for 9 years and I take 80 mg 3 times a day and most times the flutters are ok...but I still have symptoms of my heart even on the meds. With me most times, I have to increase the dose to get better results generally every 2 years or so. I take this medication for a rapid heartbeat. You may just need a higher dose...I have had little side effects all these years..just tiredness and a bit short of breath occasionally, mostly because my dose is pretty high for me. Good Luck!

i took it and i think it made mine worse
and i hate taking it since i dont have high blood preasure
it can cause breathing problems too
