Angry age 24 and had a clogged artery and minor hard attack

hey hb.. just got out of the hospital tonight. was in there for a week. I went to the hospital originally, because my period wouldn't stop.. i was bleeding for 7 weeks straight and became very faint.. Thats why i went to the hospital.. The hospital gave me 3 blood transfusions and a cat scan, 5 ekgs, ultrasound of legs, xray of chest, echocardiogram, stress test.. At first they tested my heart enzimes. the troponate level was a .5 and is supposed to be a .4 to be normal.. thats why they did a stress test on me. my echocardiogram and 5 ekg's came back normal. My stress test came back abnormal and said my artery narrowed and most likely i had a small heart attack.. now they want me to take zocor and tropin XL... i am only 24. check this i have insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian disease, bipolar, pseudo tumor cerbri-this is an eye condition-i am so depressed tonight.. i need loads of advice..

Thats real young to have heart disease , I would definitely get a 2nd opinion from a good cardiologist before taking meds. Not saying the stress test is wrong but it can't hurt to get another set of eyes on that report and to look at the films.

Re: age 24 and had a clogged artery and minor hard attack

I have shared a room with a 25 year old before who needed a stint. Being only in my 30s myself my cardiologist often jokes about feeling like a peds Dr when she sees me. But shes said shes "had to have parents sign a few consent forms before angiograms so I'm by far not the youngest"

What is your family history like? That is a real good indicator of a persons risk for CVD. Also did you get a lipid test? Those two things taken to a cardiologist, or looked at by the one you have most likely will shed a lot of light on this CVD "guessnosis".

I hear you though I was on 15 different meds by the time I had my 30th birthday. Being young and DXed with so many things can be stressful.

Take care for now, as best you can. If you feel like posting about a family member who has heart disease young in life, and or your cholesterol numbers, maybe someone can compare those to an experience they have had with similar numbers.

Unhappy Re: age 24 and had a clogged artery and minor hard attack

my mother has a long history of heart disease, but she was born prematurely. I wasn't.. My tryglycerides are always high, because of my insulin resistance, but just normal cholesterol is fine... I hate taking pills. I just believe the less you take the more healthier you will be.. Are you still taking 30 pills jon? Yes i have had a stress test, echocardiogram, 5 ekg's and a catscan with dye of my chest.. The only abnormal test was my stress test and heart enzime troponate was high. the hospital told me my artery was narrowed. I asked why they told me that i had a mild heart attack.. I am so upset over this and going on a massive anperexic diet..

You may want to consider the ornish diet or something close to that but like I said previously you should spend some time with a cardiologist and get a 2nd opinion about where your at right now.
