It's an important time as your Dad recovers from major surgery. I can't even imagine what he has been through, but I can understand you and your Mum's concerns. Of course it's most important to let your Dr know of any concerns you have.
How your Dad feels in himself is the important thing, and perhaps taking daily body temperatures might be a good idea. (I'm not certain, but at 4 months he should be well past the stage of developing any infection.) If he had some anxieties that surfaced at those times that could explain the sweating, but I would ask him how and what he feels - and perhaps check his pulse rate by holding his wrist. Of course you won't want to get him alarmed about it - so some discretion is needed!
Side effects from his medications is something that you might look at too, and perhaps raise with his Dr.
