For several years, I've had slight problems breathing. When I was younger (19 or 20 years old), I was told I have "Panic Disorder". I just assumed this was correct. Now several years have passed, (I'm 27) and the past few months I've had issues with my ankles swelling, retaining fluid, breathing has gotten worse, and my heart seems to pound in my chest sometimes. In addition to this, I've become extremely fatigued and weak. I weigh myself in the morning, and by the evening, I am often 3 or 4 lbs heavier from the fluid. So..... I've had an EKG, Holter Monitor, and this morning had an Echocardiogram. The nurse performing the echo told me my Mitral Valve is not closing properly, and that a tiny "squirt" of blood is backing back into my heart. So, of course I've spent all day long googling this and that, and it sounds like I've got Mitral Valve Prolapse, and/or Mitral Valve Regurgitation. I'm (trying to) be patient to get a formal phone call from the doctor & not just take the nurse's word, but it's hard to! He said that this is extremely common & is probably no cause for concern. Am I just going nuts? Everything I've read online says otherwise. Is there any other disorder that would cause this to happen? I also read that if you're having symptoms that it's more on the severe side vs. being mild. I'm going insane! Anyone want to help?
