Hi...I had MVP and regurgatation for many..many years and it never caused shortness of breath but did cause irregular and skipped beats. I finally had it repaired last year after 40 years. I took Atenolol for quite awhile and it corrected the skipped and irregular beats. Had to have it repaird because my heart was beginning to enlarge which is one of the effects of mvp.
