Angiogram and sedation?
Can anyone in the Uk tell me if they had sedation for their angiogram please? If so what and did it help? My hospital doesn't give it and I am determined I will need something. Thanks

You won't need it benzos, it's not painful nor uncomfortable.
Good luck wirh the angio ... you'll be fine.

Hmm..thanks I think I will as I dont trust myself not to sit up and wreck the procedure. I went for an emergency operation about 5 years ago. Got all the way to theatre and refused to be put under...had massive anxiety attack and just plain refused to let them touch me. They pretended they were giving me something to calm me...the next thing I knew I was waking up after the op! I just wonder why its such a big deal ...I have read many people get sedation and wonder why my hospital doesnt do it.

If you tell them of your concerns when you arrive for the angio I'm sure they'll do their best to help you through the proceedure.

Yes I will make it known when I arrive that it would be in 'their' interest for me to have something sedative! Had a second 24 hr ecg tape done 8 days ago and got a letter on saturday to say they need to talk to me about that tomorrow too...ho hum, looks like my idea of maybe a false positive nuclear test was a daft one!
