| Heart disease and kidney failure complications
Hi my mum who is 72 was due to have a minor heart op this week to remove a sack of calcium build up from around her heart (caused by dialysis). The pre op scan however showed major complications, a blood clot in the right heart chamber, disease of the aorta valve and another valve.
The surgeon decided not to operate but to do more tests and to get Mum onto blood thinning medication. The op will now be in 6 weeks (after blood thinning treatment kicks in). The surgeon is unclear how he will proceed but has told us this is now very high risk. Anyone got any info about these types of procedures and the added complication of kidney problems? How risky is it to do 3 or 4 procedures in one op on a 72 year old kidney patient??? Thanks.
