What is wrong with me
Several months ago my heart began to beat fast while seated, walking or sleeping. My normal heart rate is 65 to 80 bpm, but now it frequently beats 100 to 160 bpm without expected cause. Additionally, in the past month my heart beat has becomes irregular. My BP will be 115/68. These episodes last from 1 to 16 hours. I’m 55 years old. I'm treated for hypertension & diabetes, which are both under control. Following results are from recent blood tests: WBC 6.8; RBC 3.99; Hemoglobin 11.9; Hematocrit 34.5; Monocytes 14; TIBC 441; UIBC 386; Iron Serum 55; Iron Saturation 12; Vitamin B12 279; Folic Acid Serum >19.9; Ferritin Serum 10; TSH 5.33; Thyroxin (T4) Free Direct 1.28; PSA .5; Testosterone Serum 210; Free Testosterone (Direct) 3.1; SED Rate 14; Glucose Serum 89; BUN 19; A1C 6.5. All other blood tests were within proper ranges. I know enough about my situation to know that my blood work shows I’m anemic; have a hypothyroid and low testosterone levels. I know that all of these can cause my problems. Until about a year ago my numbers were all within normal ranges. Additionally, I have the following symptoms: fatigue; shortness of breath; dizziness; headaches; leg cramps; insomnia; tingling sensation in limbs; loss of sense of touch; experienced 50 lbs weight gain in last 12 months; loss of muscle & I’m weaker; decreased libido; lack of tolerance for low temperatures; hair is more course and dry; and I generally feel sick. I’m a disabled veteran & I go to the VA for treatment, but they seem to be attacking my problem at a snail’s pace & I’m getting worse.
