I am sorry that you are in that situation, if was my worst case during my first year.
The restenosis of stents are not only related to plaque build up ... it may be clot formation, growth of the vessel wall inside the stent or collapse of the stent...
Any way, even if you take statins, unless that your LDL is below 70, the plaque will build up, slow or fast but it will build up. And keep in mind that the plaque grows also in other places were there are not stents that could be previously with 40 or more % of blockade.
The net conclusion is that is just a matter of luckiness , I am very lucky, I carry 5 stents for 3 years, without problems.
Where you given Clopidogrel?? As I understand this is the key med. to avoid restenosis.
