Re: Child's chest pain..anything to worry about?
Does the pain come with any abnormal rhythym, skipped beats, etc.? Does he say that his heart rate is more elevated than usual (obviously it will be if he's playing basketball, but if the pain lasts 15 minutes does his heart rate stay elevated during that time?) Is he able to take deep breaths during this time? It does sound like something related to lungs/oxygen and fatigue being that it's at the end of a game, and probably nothing to worry about, but why worry at all? A cardiologist could do an evaluation and alleviate your concerns. A cardio could also address or refer you to someone if your son needed to be evaluated for asthma or anything possibly lung related. Worry robs us of time, energy and happiness, so if you are concerned, make an appointment and put your fears to rest. I wish you and your son the best, Lily
