I'm not sure if it is from the beta blocker or the new ICD implant, but my first hour of sleep is ... wierd. very strange dreams, very restless. i used zoplicone, took it out, no difference. last night (1 week after i had arrested) i finally had a normal sleep.
Re: Questions about side effects of beta blockers...
It can take awhile for you body to adjust to the beta blockers. Some people do report strange dreams and restlessness, this can also be caused by anxiety. It can take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust and for side effects to subside. What ever you do, you should not stop taking the beta blockers without consulting your doctor first. Suddenly stopping them can be dangerous (you have to gradually ween off of them).
I personally have been taking metoprolol for a tachycardia and PVCs for over 6 years without any bothersome side effects, so beta blockers can work well for some people.
