Severe heart symptoms but unknown cause
> I am a twenty-one year old young woman.
I am not overweight and I eat a healthy diet.
When I was younger (pre-teen and teens) I experienced chest pains that I
mostly ignored. I also struggled with low energy when I was seventeen. I would
occassionally experience the feeling of my heart doing a flip during my teens.
(Maybe a pvc? )
When I was eighteen alot of things improved. The chest pains vanished, I was
not tired, and felt no irregular heart beats. I nearly forgot that there had
been anything wrong with me. I still could not exert myself but, because I was
able to be inactive, I did not notice this alot.
For the last year I have felt more chest pains, I would often not get out of
bed until 11:00 or 12:00 because I was so tired. A few months ago everything
began going downhill. First I was becoming exhausted and experienced more and
more chest pains. Then one night I woke up with severe pain in my left shoulder
that traveled down the center of my chest. After this I felt pain in my shoulder
and chest everytime I lay down. For the past eight weeks I sleep propped up
against pillows and blankets. I cannot do anything on my feet because I am
exhausted and feel more pain. The pain is no longer just chest pain. I feel pain
and pressure in my jaw, both sides of my neck, both shoulders, both arms, right
down to my fingers, directly in my heart and center of chest as well as upper
chest. If I palpate the areas I feel pain I always feel a blood vessel of artery
there. I have also had some nausea.
My heart rhythm is also abnormal, somtimes stopping, trembling, or jumping.
I have been to the emergency room three times where they checked for a heart
attack and took chest x-rays. All were normal. I was on a heart moniter for
several hours at the hospital where they found my heart rate fast but otherwise
fine. I have had numerous ecg's that were normal. My thyroid is also normal. I
had an echocardiogram done but don't have official results back yet. However, the lady who did it said it looked beautiful to her. I have done a stress test that was supposedly normal even though I stopped three minutes early due to discomfort and felt increased chest pain by the time we had walked through the hospital and parking lot.
I had the feeling that the cardiologist did not take me seriously or did not
know what to do with a young lady with symptoms like mine. I just finished
wearing a holter moniter for 24 hours during which time I did not really
experience any irregular heart beats. So, those results will most likely be
normal as well because it did not catch the abnormal beats.
All of these tests are a taking considerable amount of time before the results
are back and they do not tell what is wrong. In the meantime my symptoms are
getting worse and I am quite anxious. I also don't know what I should do since
no one thinks there is anything wrong with my heart but I am experiencing many
heart related symptoms.
I welcome suggestions
