Calcium Score of 8 - Do I need to worry?

I am a 50 year old Asian male. Recently I had my EBCT done and the report
revealed a score of 8. My previous EBCT score done in 2006 was 0.
My last lab test shows

TC - 222
LDL - 139
HDL - 54
TG - 143
TC/HDL - 4.1
Glucose - 95

My doctor who did the EBCT claims that my calcium score is very high
and is recommending my primary care physician to take immediate action.
On the other hand, my primary care physician is not concerned with
my results. He says cholesterol medication is not needed.

I am otherwise healthy. Exercise regularly and don't have any chest pain.
My dad has heart disease and underwent CABG 15 years ago.
Do I need to be concerned? I am wondering who is right - my PCP or the
doctor who did the EBCT?

Re: Calcium Score of 8 - Do I need to worry?

8 is a high score and indicates that you are at higher risk of developing CAD.

Just make sure your cholesterol, blood pressure, sugar, thyroids, etc are all within limits, so these things don't start damaging your heart. Eat healthy and exercise and you will be right. Blood pressure and cholesterol are the main things you need to keep in check.

I think the doctor who did the EBCT meant by taking immediate action, that you have your overall health and lifestyle reviewed in order to make sure you don't develop CAD.
