chest pains...

I am a 20 year old non-smoker and have noticed lately that sometimes I get sharp shooting pains on the left side of my chest. It will last for about a minute or two and then will be gone. It really worries me because I'm scared it's my heart. My doctor recently told me last October that I have high cholesterol but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it. I am also on birth control and I'm not sure if that's related either, but I know it says that it could cause heart problems. Any suggestions?

Re: chest pains...

It's hard to say. Pains relating to heart attacks and blockages would feel tight and constricting. Like someone is sitting on your chest.

See your doctor and see what he says. I don't think you have much to worry about.
