Wow! Sorry to hear that you went thru such a nasty ordeal!

I am glad that they got to you in time, during the cardiac arrest! Those must have been some tense, excruciating moments for you and your family!

You had a triple bypass back in Oct 2009. Did it get plugged again?

How are you doing now? How do you feel? Pretty sore?

Hi Machaon,
I was actually replying to a post but for some reason the 'Mods' decided to use my reply to start a new thread.

No I haven't had any more trouble since 2009 and feel great.

I enjoy reading your posts, they are very informative.

All the best.

It's good to hear that you are doing so well, after such a difficult and dangerous incident.

If you don't mind me asking, were you aware of what was happening during the cardiac arrest? If so, were you in a lot of pain?

How long did it take to get help?

Thanks! All the best to you too!

It is mind blowing that you actually went into cardiac arrest and survived! And then...... a triple bypass! You say that you are feeling great. What changes did you make that caused you to recover so well? How old are you?

Re: ended up havig a cardiac arrest and had a triple bypass

I had my cardiac arrest during the Angiogram proceedure, they told me the catheter 'tickled the wall of my heart' and sent it into Ventricular Fibrilation - I arrested very quickly.

I was not aware anything was wrong, there was no pain no nothing, everything seemed to be normal - then the lights went out.
When I was revived I knew something had happened but didn't know what.
There was at least 6 nurses an doctors standing around me asking if I felt ok - I felt fine.
I noticed all the equipment had been moved away - it was then that a Doctor came up to me and said 'You have just had a cardiac arrest, we had to shock you to restart your heart, you need an operation, you have some severe blockages in the coronary arteries'

I was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit and had the operation a few days later.
The best way I could explain the arrest is - It was just like a general anaesthetic, I don't remember anything after the lights went out.

I was 53 when I had the bypass, weighed 64Kgs so weight wasn't an issue, I had just quit smoking 8 months prior to the event - they said family history and smoking was the main cause.
I still do not smoke and I watch what I eat and exercise more.
