A dysfunctional metabolism could cause heart rhythm or heart beat problems. Seems like at 5'8, 100 lbs, you would be on a diet around 1200 calories. Do you feel that you have a good balance of proteins, carbs and healthy fat? Do you feel that you absorb sufficient calories to fuel your athletic activities?
I have these "attacks" where I can feel the blood rush to my face, feel my heart beating very quickly, I have a hard time breathing, pain in my upper back, and get dizzy to the point where I cannot walk and need to sit. This is caused from walking short distances. I also have had one of these "attacks" and have passed out from it.
One thing that one thinks of when it comes to symptoms like you have experienced is clogged arteries, which is not likely at your age, diet and conditioning. Another possibility is some type of valve disease, or some other structural defect of the heart.
Have you had any heart tests, like the standard EKG?
Another thing that could cause symptoms like your could be medications, drugs or health supplements.
Another possibility would be the stimulating effects of environmental sensitivities or allergies.
Just wanted to post a few ideas, for you to ponder.
At any rate, best of luck and health to you, and I hope that you are able to find out what is wrong and fix it without having to take any medication!
