Chest discomfort

Hello everybody. It is the first time I'm using this forum. I am 23 years old male, who is turning to you because of many health problems lately; My main problem is my heart disease, doctors diagnosed mitral valve prolapse when I was 15 years old. I also did ECG and echocardiogram in Septembre 2011, they told me my heart should be fine, and that I have mitral valve prolapse with minimal mitral regurgitation. Three weeks ago, I started to feel sort of discomfort in my left chest, I could describe it with muscle fatigue, as it is affecting movement of my left hand, it feels kind of weak. At the same time, I am also feeling tingling in my left hand, but only in little and ring finger. Also if I touch my breastbone-sternum, I feel some kind of pain, and today, left side of my neck became swollen in the position of neck lymph nodes, but this couldn't be it, because I had my nodes removed in primary school already. Beside that problems, I have had diarrhea for the last 7 days, which stopped today, light headness and dizziness at times, and ringing in ears. As said, whole of this symptoms started about 2-3 weeks ago. Probably they are not connected, but I want to make sure of it, and cure them as fast as possible. To add, I had a tick at the end of April, I was on vacations in Turkey and I removed it wrong, so I got rash from it, I did blood test two days after it, and got some pills, which helped me remove the rash, and infection (probably). Also, I was doing light weight lifting about twice per month, but this feeling in the chest began about one week after the last session. I think I also need to mention that I was taking Accutane from Novembre last year until tick infection in April, without doing blood tests meanwhile. I did two ECG's in the last week, one ECG showed completely normal results, and other one showed that I have hypertrophy of left ventricle. They also checked my blood pressure, and the highest one was 174/112, but I was really completely nervous at that time. Still, usually my blood pressure is around 125-140/60-90. I also made blood tests, and they returned back totally normal. Currently, I am waiting for echocardiogram to be made next week. I also have to add that I feel occasional stitches in the heart, quite painful, synchronised with heart beat. I also recognized presence of blood in my spit for the past some days, probably from my throat. Another add, I was drinking quite alot for the last four months, and I haven't been eating healthy, which resulted in my weight loss from 72 kgs to 64kgs. I know I have stated many symptoms, which are surely not connected, but I would be really happy and thankful to hear your thoughts about my health concerns. I have to admit I'm really stressed out, and maybe some of the symptoms could be causing anxiety, I don't know, but I cannot do nothing about it until I am not sure what is wrong with my body. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon, and I am thankful already in advance!

Re: Chest discomfort

Hi welcome to the heart disorder board! I would not lift weights this is known to aggravate mitral valve prolapse. Exercise is important however so I would substitute walking in sunshine but not between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. I would avoid all animal products in case blood vessels are filled with plaque and this is causing a higher pressure. I would want to do bay leaf tea every 6 hours around the clock for 2-4 weeks, because a tick can have bad viruses. I would try to get 8 hours of sleep or at least rest at night and follow a regular schedule, including meal times 5 hours apart with no snacking. The last meal should be several hours before bed time and light, a peice of fruit and a peice of bread.

Diarrhea can be evaluated by a gastroenterologist if needed.
Antibiotics sometimes cause diarrhea because candida gets a hold in the gastrointestinal tract and or it is irritating as a chemical substance in my opinon. Sometimes food poisoning might cause it etc.

I would avoid all sweets and desserts since these feed candida. Meat, eggs and milk often have bacteria that can sometimes cause a problem with diarrhea. I might eat apples, potatoes, and cabbage (if a juicer is available it is sometimes very healing but I would not use large quantities with a heart valve prolapse, maybe a cup or so a day for awhile until the bowel is better and there is less diarrhea, juices themselves can sometimes be fluidy and might cause a bit of liquid stool but is a healing substance and may heal the bowel so that when stopped there is no more diarrhea). Cabbage juice can be mixed with carrot juice or with water to make it easier to take and just a shake of salt if desired. vegetables, beans, toasted homemade bread, homemade crackers without yeast, without baking powder, without baking soda and grains.

I would also mention the blood in the spit to a family doctor who might send a person to a dentist, or respiratory specialist or a doctor dealing with infection depending on what he thought was wrong and where the blood is actually from.

I would avoid all chemical substances inside and outside the body since chemical substances in things like most skin lotions and deoderants contain things the body may absorb and must detoxify. All vegetables and fruits should be thoroughly washed in my opinion. peace sjb
