I am a 24 year old female. 5'7 and 125lbs. i appear very healthy, but have not excersised in a while. I just started a running program and I am experiencing intense dizziness and with minimal running. I have a very high resting heart rate that averages well over 100. Should I be concerned about my heart beating too fast while running?
Yes, I would be concerned, especially since you are experiencing severe dizziness with running. The most common reason for a fast resting heartrate is an overactive thyroid. I would see your Dr. and investigate the reason for your tachycardia. I would wait to start your exercise program until you have checked out your heart rate and the cause, if it can be found, is treated. You might need to see a cardiologist as well.
