L Arginine bad for heart patients

This supplement has been part of my bodybuilding supplement regimen on and off for several years. I have suffered from high cholesterol for 10 years and had to get a cardiac stint last year. Can Arginine be harmful to me?

I have read that several years ago six patients died in an NIH-sponsored study testing whether L-arginine can improve heart function after a heart attack. These patients were somewhat older than me, and I have no heart damage identified, but is it possible the Arginine contributed to the blockage that required my stint?
Thanks for any responses.
