What's Wrong With My Heart?

Hi guys,
I'm new to this, so bare with me. I just thought i'd post what's going on with my heart. - I'll start from the start.

I'm a healthy (was healthy) 21 year old female. A very stress free, happy, fit lifestyle.

About 8 months ago I was lying on my bed reading a book and all of a sudden I started getting heart palpitations, they would come every hour on average.

A few days or so after the palpitations started, my heart would start beating really fast, I became aware of my heart constantly pounding away, very fast. It felt tiring.

I ended up in hospital with severe chest pains and a racing heart beat. My heart spiked up to 200beats per minute while I was in emergency (I passed out when this occurred). They did blood tests and my results came back positive for blood clots so they put me on blood thinners and kept me in hospital for a few days.

Emergency Hospital visits became regular as my heart would beat super fast and I'd faint or have bad chest pains..

I got referred to a specialist who did tests such as a stress test and scans. The stress test showed my heart beat is too high, this also showed up while on a 24 hour holter monitor, which showed that my resting heart rate is about 130. After putting me on beta blockers to bring my heart rate down the specialists answers for all this was that it's just "one of those things".

I've been on beta blockers for about 4 months now, my heart rate is slower, I am not getting palpitations as often. But they're still there.

But now I get severe, SEVERE chest pains. I'm constantly tired. I get pains in my RIGHT arm and they shoot up into my shoulder and jaw. I get out of breath really quickly, I've gained weight, every time I exercise it hurts my chest.

The pain in my chest is like a pressure pain. Like someone is squeezing my heart. And it's nearly always there, I always have some sort of pain or feeling in my chest.
I get really nauseas and hot and sweaty lately, feeling like i'm going to black out, over the last few weeks I get this feeling a couple of times a day.

So my symptoms are:
-Chest pains (pressure, squeezing)
-Arm, shoulder and jaw pain (shooting pains)
-Palpitations
-Waves of nausea
-Feeling like i'm going to pass out
-Dizziness
-Clammy skin
-Weight gain

I must also add that this isn't left unattended, I am getting a second opinion in two weeks.

Would just love to hear other peoples views.

Re: What's Wrong With My Heart?

Greetings Welcome to the Heart Disorder Healthboards! I am sorry to hear about all this I hope things improve. I think sometimes when peoples blood clots several things may have occurred. Sometimes they don't drink enough water so the blood dehydrates a bit, sometimes they have too much sugar. Some pineapple, papaya, and homemade bread may help with vitamin E and bromalaine and enzymes to help keep the blood thinner. Onions and garlic may also be useful for blood thinning but should be eaten with other vegetables. In case a professional is desirable a blood specialist might be consulted. However personally I think a doctor should be seen as often as the lawyer. Some people have nearly bled to death on medical blood thinners and I am not very happy about those.

Vegetables should never be eaten with fruit. Some food eaten should be raw and some cooked. I would avoid crossing legs and being sedentary too much as this encourages blood stasis. I would not actually do running but would encourage a brisk walk daily out in sunshine and fresh air. I would avoid all additives in food and nonfood substances such as alcohol, drugs and tobacco. I would try to have a regular schedule of 8 hour sleep or rest and meals with food 5 hours apart and never eating late at night. The last meal of the day should be several hours before bedtime and light such as a peice of homemade bread and fruit. Of course everyone makes their own health care decisions in life. Peace, sjb

Re: What's Wrong With My Heart?

That sounds scary !
Have doctors mentioned Atrial Fibulation or a possible short circuit in the upper chamber ? It can cause blood pooling and clots.
I had a racing heart beat while i was on stomach meds, which changed my magnesium levels.
Funny, my irregular heartbeat started when i was lying down too. I feel something is putting preasure on my heart. I stopped sleeping on my stomach, because i could feel my heart labouring.
Have you been tested for Thyroid problems ?

Re: What's Wrong With My Heart?

That is painful to read. I was a healthy 35 guy with a happy lifestyle, almost stress free and then life (my body chemistry) screwed me.

It is important to get rid of the blood cloth problem. Other than that, pain is just an electrical signal. So is nausea.

What does the EKG show?
What beta blockers are you using? Some of them cause nausea and other side effects? Your heart rate with beta blockers is 130?

Re: What's Wrong With My Heart?

Hello, I have had episodes like yours for over 30 years and was finally diagnosed 3 years ago and I have superventicular tachardia my heart would beat sometimes 220 a minute, they diagnosed me after I had worn a heart monitor for a month. I am now on medication which has helped a lot but there is also a procedure that can be done to stop it also (which I will probably have done in the future) Certainly go to a cardiologist and wear a heart monitor they can tell a lot by that.
