PVCs and coughing

Had PVCs for years. Was told that they were harmless. Now I am having coughing fits along with an irregular rhythm. I feel my coughin is caused by my heart. I feel like the wind has been knocked out of me. I am 44 and do not suspect any other heart problems except that I have MVP and recently saw a dentist. I have never had antibiotics, but I know some people with this do.

Re: PVCs and coughing

I have the EXACT same thing ! When I have irregular beats my body forces me to cough. I have read that is your body's way of squeezing the heart back into rhythm. I have also heard that if you push as if you are going to the bathroom that it goes back into normal rhythm.

Same thing for me, especially if the pause between beats is long or there are multiple PVC's in a row. Seems worse when my blood pressure is higher.

Re: PVCs and coughing

I too have had PVC's for most of my life.. when I first had them, they would cause no problems and came randomly and not often.. As I got older, stress of life has caused them to come frequent, and cause the shortness of breath... u mentioned it feels like the wind is knocked out of you, that is what I am feeling too. I went to my pulminary Dr. for my asthma and to the cardiologist.. I was told all was good, and its probably anxiety and could be also the pvc's or it could be airway spasms..? So frustrated
