Third Surgery: Metal or Tissue Valve
I am 30 years old and have had two prior surgeries: a ross procedure 10 years ago and an aortic root replacement three years ago. The Aortic Valve, soon after the root replacement, demonstrated signs that it was getting worse. Over the last three years I am now feeling symptoms that lead the cardiologist and surgeon to suggest aortic valve replacement.
I have the following questions:
Has anyone had three heart surgeries? How was the recovery? ( I felt that my second was easier to recover than the first.)
Has anyone had a fourth Heart surgery? How was the recovery?
Has anyone needed reoperation on a Metal valve? why? and how long after the initial replacement?
What are the other living changes people have had to make after being on Coumadin?
How is going to the beach when on Coumadin? rock climbing? being in the sun? running? what if you bump into a wall hard are you worried about internal bleeding? what do you do if that occurs? how long does it take to stop a cut if you cut yourself bleeding? anything special that needs to be done?
any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
