| Diagnosed with damaged thickened valve
Hello. I am a 41 year old woman who lives pretty healthy. I am 5 foot 5 and weigh 125 pounds. Never smoked, drink very little and I'm a vegetarian. Had an echocardiogram done last week and cardiologist called me yesterday and told me the main valve to my heart was damaged and thickened and looked like a 70 year olds valve. He said it was nothing I had to worry about for 30 or 40 more years and that otherwise I was a young healthy gal. He said this was good news. It didn't feel like good news. I am now very worried. I have no idea how my valve would have gotten damaged. He said it could have been caused by endocarditis but he wasn't sure. I had an echocardiogram 3 years ago and did not have this valve damage then. Is this really something I don't need to worry about like the doctor said? Because as of right now being told the main valve to my heart looks like a 70 year olds has me worried. Thank you for your help.
