Stopping ASA

I had an RCA Stent placed 6 years ago and I am on Plavix as well as 81 mg ASA.

Would it be safe to discontinue the ASA now.

Re: Stopping ASA

If you mean Asprin then no.
The asprin is to thin your blood to prevent clots which can cause heart attacks and strokes.

I had a triple bypass just over 3 years ago and still need to take asprin daily.

Re: Stopping ASA

Plavix does prevent blood clots, it's also used to prevent restenosis of the stent - most people I know have only had to take it for 12 months after having a stent inserted.

You better check with your doctor first.
