So, I have severe anxiety. I made an appointment with the nurse practioner at my dr's office to get my meds adjusted. Since I was having chest pain due to the anxiety, and it would make me feel better she gave me an EKG. She said everything looked good, but if I have chest pains go to the ER? Isn't an EKG what they give people to see if they're heart is healthy/if they're having a heart attack? How long would you say I can STOP worrying so much about my health since I had a good EKG? I am overweight, have high cholestrol, and have high bp from pre-eclampia. I just started exercising 4 times a week to lose weight, and am trying to eat healthier. I'm 28. Thanks for any replies!
I think it's just a precaution.
All chest pain should be treated as a potential heart attack.
You also have a few risk factors - if your chest pain really worries you, do as the nurse advised and attend the nearest ER.
It's better to be safe than sorry.
