Hello. My cardiologist ordered an echocardiogram and a stress test after also ordering a CTA chest scan (which came back normal). My question is - wouldn't the CTA chest scan already have identified anything that he would also be looking for on the echo and stress test?
2 previous abnormal EKG's were reason the CTA was initially ordered - showing previous heart attack
Re: Why an echo and stress test after CTA chest scan?
The echo will be to look at the structure of the heart, valves etc;
With the stress test he'll be looking for narrowed or blocked coronary arteries.
If there are any abnormalities he'll probably want you to have an Angiogram (Cardiac Cath).
Have you been having chest pain or episodes of Angina?

Yes, I've been having chest pain and other symptoms which led to the EKG's - I just thought (hoped) that most any issue with the heart would have been found through the CTA chest scan?
Thank you for your help!
