Can Hepititis C be transmitted through sex?

This topic is widely discussed, but the conclusion is not very clear. I would summarize that in a following way:

1) Transmission via sex is possible, but not very probable
2) The risk is higher in the case of the risky sex behaviour (i.e. anal sex, more partners e.t.c.)
3) Using the condom should substantially reduce the potential risk.

I have had unprotected sex with my husband for the last 25 years (I actually know the date of my infection due to transfusions) He was just tested for the virus - he was being tested to see if he matched to be my living donor. I am getting ready to have treatment and than a living donor transplant.

I would not recommend doing anything involving the remote possiblity of blood contact but, otherwise, my docs say go for it!

Thanks Richskeen, So the chances are low through sex? Because my fiance has has Hepititis C.
