Post Skipping a shot?

Anyone here ever skipped a shot for the week?

Here's the situation. Every year we go out motorcycle riding for kids Spring Break. Hubby just does not want to skip it. It's like this big tradition. My kids haven't spent Easter at home in 6 years. We camp with all the family and other friends. Kids do the egg hunt in the desert. Kind of fun hiding the eggs in the bushes, motorcycle, dune buggies, trailer, etc., It's fun watching 15 kids run after the eggs!

Anywho...after Gerry had the ankle thing the other night he's been kind of upset because he's worried it will happen again. I've never known him to be a "worry-wart" (he usually leaves this up to me) so I can tell he's really worried about it.

We're trying to decide if we should cancel because if we do go out and his ankle acts up he won't be able to drive our rig home....I CAN NOT drive our 30 foot motorhome with the 24' trailer attached to it, I can barely drive the motorhome and that's only around town where we're visiting, I DO NOT take it on the freeways.

Problem is that everyone will have their own rigs to drive so won't be able to help us with it. We had a family talk and everyone decided if we can't make it then they will stay home too and spend Easter at home (we're a tight family) but we hate to stop 5 other families from having fun over this. We're trying to come up with a solution.

So.....we were wondering if we consulted the doctor about skipping his shot for this week(lessening the chances of it happening--it might never happen again--who knows)...in what way will it affect his treatment? On Janis's board I've heard other people talk about their doc taking them off and then going back on due to sides. It's a risk I'm sure but just thought I'd get everyone's opinion about it.

Susan

Hey Susan, all that I have been told is to stick to the protocol and be medication compliant during treatment. Its important to be really strict with treatment as the Peg is made to stay in the system for a week and additional shots booster what's left. I would only come off if I was too sick and under doctor advisement. This is way too important for him to skip a round. I hope I am not coming off too bossy!

I swear the ankle condition you describes sounds just like my husbands gout attacks and I remember another guy who posted here had gout flare ups during treatment (read my post to you under "weird sides")

I know you hate to miss an outing but maybe this year ya'll just may need to chill. As bad as that sounds his resolving this virus is so, so important and its only one time. He'll be there next year the good Lord willing!

I don't know, tough decision for ya'll.

Take Care,
JeannieRee

Post

probably playing russian roulette if considering skipping doses for a vacation.

i would take my meds and still go. if you get stuck, there will always be someone who can rescue you. just be sure and have a cell phone!

if you are really afraid of getting stranded, skip the vacation this year. maybe with the money you save, you can have a bigger time next year!

Cool

DD-
Wes and Jeannie hit it on the nail,
its a commitment, the only time they skip a shot is if sides are so untolerable, one,on advice may skip a shot, to recouperate.

It would be kewl if we could skip a shot without lowering the effectiveness, I bet that Everyone on treatment would be doing just that, and often, he he

My opinion, continue with the program, things will work out, they always do,there are always someone around to help [drive the motorhome] things like that, hell if I was there I would drive, and cook for you[[ not advised to let me cook thing he he]- my point is -someone will help if needed.

If not -as wes say's, make it twice as good next year, if you have to miss one vacation.
there will probebly be a few of these situations come up where it would be nice to skip a shot in the next year, butttt.

Hang in there, lucky can only do his best, and will probebly do his best, things Will work out folks.
take your shot have a great time,[ my humble opinion]
Be Positive, Be Well-
