An excellent question.
Or how about elective surgery, like knee surgery to repair torn meniscus, mole removal, etc.?
While on Rebotron I had a root canal and crown done, did not experience any problems, and Rebotron did kick me around decently ;-o Mind you I very rarely bleed when brushing or flossing, even during Rebotron treatment.
On the other hand, I had some moles removed and they healed poorly, but that is not much different from my typical keloid (sp?) scarring.
What if a person were to get braces and was on treatment at the same time? The teeth move and the bone/roots move and adjust, is it too risky a procedure during treatment, if one were to consider it? Would teeth drop out (something that is warned against even for people not on chemo type treatments)?
The thing that IS encouraging is that people on the new treatments are considering doing things to better themselves, they expect to live longer and want to maintain their health. BRAVO!
And on the other hand you have all these "normal" people with healthy livers swigging and smoking and snorting and shooting. Go figure, eh?
Back to the question, I think it depends on your blood levels, how low your platelets drop and WBC rises, etc. You do run the increased risk of infection with some other disease, so make sure your dentist practices excellent hygiene.
Its likely an individual thing but if anyone has any professional insight on this I am also interested.
