Rx for dry skin side
A friend of mine has a very debilitating skin disease for which she has tried many, many different types of treatments, herbal remedies, ultraviolet, chemo, etc.
She recently discovered that the best topical lotion is GRAPESEED OIL. She swears by it. Wears it all over her body on the bad rashes. It does not cure the cause of her malady, but it sure helps the symptoms, particularly the dry skin and sensitivity.
Grapeseed oil is an excellent alternative to olive oil for cooking (doesn't make the pan all sticky), salads, etc.
She says it is much better than lubriderm.
If you want a good quality nonperfumed, nonallergenic cream which is used by pharmacists as a base cream for prescription creams try Glaxo Base Cream, it is sold on the shelf at SuperStore and other major chain stores.
The hep nurse told me she likes to use noxzema for her hands. A nurse friend told me she relies on vaseline for her hands.
Hope this helps anyone out there suffering from dry skin.
