Hello everybody i just got my blood work back i am trying to decifer it and thought you all could help me, here it is HCV QN by bdna (IU/ml) serum 1,263,180 is this high or low and what would the copies be. i have been off of treatment since jan. and this is my 6 month blood work, i hope u all can help me.
Unfortunately, the relationship between Copies/mL and IU/mL is not 1:1. However, an equivalency study was published in the journal Hepatologythat demonstrated that 800,000 IU/mL is approximately equivalent to 2,000,000 Copies/mL
bDNA tests are more accurate in the very high range of PCR.
You are not in that category, so this is not the best choice of a test for you.
Nevertheless, 1 million (give or take) is in the low/mid low range.
The only thing that really matters is whether you are positive or negative and that test is the Qualitative test (Roche Diagnostics) which is accurate to <5 copies. bDNA doesn't measure accurately at that low a level.
At the end of treatment, you either are positive or negative.
I hope this helps,

the main reason i treated was to have some relief about not being such a risk to others. i feel like while i was undetectable, and even now that the blood level is low, it has been somewhat of a success.
i wish there is a cure for this, but i feel that i did and am doing my part in trying not to spread this stupid disease!
i know i can live with it, but i don't want anyone else to have to suffer because of me.
