Question Just found out I have Hep C

Hello everyone.

I've been reading this board while I waited for my blood work results. I know I've had hep c for less than a year as previous blood tests came out negative. I am very scared and my doctor didn't make me feel confident in her. I have health insurance through an HMO and don't know how to proceed. My doctor informed me over the phone and just said that my liver tests came out only slightly abnormal and that what I needed to do was have blood work done every year as I probably wouldn't experience any symptoms for 10-15 years. When I asked her if I should come in to talk about it, she said that wasn't necessary. I feel that this is not right and was wondering if I should try to switch doctors or actually try to see a hepatologist? I would really appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

hi,
dont worry to much, its no good for the body. i found out i have hepC july 15, my daughters 13the bday. actually i found out in 99, but was told i naturally fought it off and would most likely be fine for good. after a recent blood test my liver enymes came back abnormal then after more test i found out i have a viral load of 399,000, low. i am a geno3A. i was hysterical for weeks and made myself sick with worry. please dont do what i did. most important, dont drink any alcohol, or smoke anything at all or put any harmful things to add to this. if youonly had this for a year, its most likely your liver is in great shape and hopefully you can nip this in the bud with tx. main thing is to avoid what i said, go to all your doctors app's, find out your viral load and genotype, possibly get a biopsy, do extensive research, and beat the crap out of this thing. if your a geno 2 or 3, your chances are extremely high you'll beat it. although, there are many many cases with geno 1s beating it for good too. i was on tx, for a month in sept, but was takin off due to sides. i just started again yesterday, had my first shot. i was lowered on the riba from 1000mg to 800mg a day. i will say a prayer for you. please keep your head up and stay positive, eat healthy, get exercise i moderation and keep faith in GOD. together we will all overcome this thing. please keep us updated. thanbey is very knowegeble and has helped us all with helpful advice, if your out there thank you!
GODBLESS
MRBILL

Thank you for your responses and support, it makes me feel better. Just a little about myself...I am 27 years old, I eat healthy most of the time, I exercise about 3x per week, have never smoked, and used to drink very seldomly in social situations so it won't be hard to stop drinking completely, which I already have. My fiance has Hep C so that is pretty much how I came into contact with it. Needless to say, I wasn't completely shocked to find out I had it (except for the fact that I had read that sexual transmission occurs "seldomly") and just tell myself that it would have eventually happened during our marriage. I have told him to please NEVER feel guilty for "passing" it to me and I hope he can overcome that. Thank you for the encouragement and your prayers - you are all in mine as well....

I've had this virus for nearly 36 years now. I just found out a few months ago. In those years I have progressed to stage 2.

Bout the only thing I would want to add to avoid would be to watch the chemicals, etc you handle, breathe, apply to your skin, etc. Insecticides and fumes are bad for everyone.

Alice
