Viral load count going up - Hepatitis Message Board

I am starting to get concerned about the Pegintron treatment I have been on for 6 months. When I started treatment I had a viral load count of 2,000,000, 3 months later it had gone down to 22,500 which I was pleased with. Now 6 months into treatment it has gone up to 200,000 which makes me feel as though I am going through all this treatment hell for nothing.

Does anyone know of any studies regarding the fluctuations in viral load and correlation to sustained response? Is this normal? Does still havin the virus detectable after 6 months lower the odds for a sustained response? Any info would be appreciated.

There have been cases where viral loads went up instead of down.

You need to discuss the goals of therapy with your doctor and decide whether continuuing the therapy is getting you cloiser to the goal.

When viral load starts going up, this is not corollated with a viral response. Just the opposite.

Talk to your doctor....
