Herniated Cervical Discs - Hernia Message Board

Hi! Everyone.
I am new to these boards. I have been diagnosed with 3 dislocated discs in my neck. I have pain in the back of neck that radiate into my right shoulder and back and into my arm. I have numbness and tingling pins and needles on and off on my collar bones and neck. I just had my first epidural shot 2 days ago and I am feeling little relief. I wanted to know has anyone had epidural shots and did they work for them. My orthopaedic seems to think this is the answer. But from what I have read on the internet these shots are temporary relief. Has anyone had good luck and had permanent relief? I am scared to death of having surgery. I am hoping I don't need it. I am seeking any advice or your stories on cervical disc dislocation.

I had a herniated disc in my neck about 12 years ago, but had surgery to fuse it. Afterward I still had neck pain so I had the epidural shots in my neck. The first one did nothing for me so I was leery about getting the second one. Well, to make a long story shorter, the second one helped! It took a week, but it helped for about 3 months. I couldn't get anymore after that due to some other medical conditions that developed, but after having severe neck pain for a long time now I only have the problem about twice a year instead of every other day.

I have a herniated disc in my neck and am looking at surgery. I, also am extremely aprehensive about it. I have heard so many people who have had bad or no results. I guess I didn't really answer your question, but am searching for the same answers you are. Good luck with you and I hope you choose the right solution , as I hope I do!
