Whats considered large in spinal herniations? - Hernia Message Board

I have 2 cervical herniations in the 2-2.5 area, that are resulting in right ventral cord flattening, with moderate central canal stenosis and bilateral foraminal stenosis along with bone spurs.

I also have several thoracic herniations in the 4.0 mm range with foraminal stenosis and ventral dural displacement with some ventral cord flattening.

Whats ventral cord flattening and what is considered large for a cervical and thoracic herniation?

Well I don't know much about herniation per say because my problem was basicly due to bone spuring, but I do know that my bone spuring was flattening my cord.. Your spinal cord is being compressed to the point that its causing it to loose its round shape and probably looking more oval. When your acutal cord is being compressed its called Myelopathy. When there is a problem with the spinal nerve roots its called radiculopathy. The term for narrowing in the spinal cannal in general is called Stenosis.

For me My stenosis was caused by the bone spurring.
