What essential oil will help a herniated disk?

My husband just found out that he has 2 herniated disks and is in terrible pain. He is taking drugs for the pain but I would like to rub an essential oil on the area of pain but I don't know what to get. Any advice???

Ahww how sweet. An oil isn't going to cure a herniated disk, but any kind of oil for me as long as your are rubbing my back i will never tell you to stop.

Hi, like Yvette said, unfortunately there is no oil, lotion, or rub that will cure herniated discs. I only WISH it was that easy.

I was just hoping to find one that would help to ease the pain. I've also thought of acupuncture but I don't know much about it.

Unfortunately as the others have posted to you already, there is no magic pain reliever for this type of injury. There are topical analgesics out there that can sometimes bring some temporary relief, but truly doesn't do too much.

There are prescribed topicals that may help a bit more, such as lidocaine patches, but you will need to see your doctor for that. And again, these are just for some minor pain relief. It will not heal it.

Accupuncture may well be of some benefit to him and relief some of his pain. I know several that are big on this procedure and rave for the help it can provide. Again, it won't cure him, but it might offer him some level of relief.

Good luck.

Arnica gel

St. John's Wort comes under another name when it pertains to calming nerve endings for back problems and herniated discs.

Glucosamine Chondritin and Shark's powder (pills) (powder) taken in a shake have been scientifically proven to rebuild connective tissue,

That is all that I know about.

I think we are going to try acupuncture. Doesn't hurt to try. Thanks everyone for your ideas.
