hi my story is long but will shorten it down! am 30 yr old female, last year started with tummy pains, chest pains and back pains. during this year ive had endoscopy ..both ends!! only revealed small hiatus hernia. ultra sound of gallblader etc,all was clear. barium swallow which revealed i have some acid reflux problems. chest x ray which shew inflated lungs/possible emphysema and now am waiting to see specialist for lungs but my doc thinks its nothin to worry about. but my chest and back pains are painful and scary,my doc keeps telling me its just mechanical/muscular pain but i dont agree. i have huge pain in my left side under armpit, alittle towards my back, pain into my boob and underneath it ,sharp pains over my chest ,even right side and the middle of my chest is sooo heavy and dont feel right,my heart beat quick at times but this has only happened a few times. i also have horrible pain in my back on left side, like a big block of pain,i also am getting tthrobs of pain up my spine and all over the top of my back,it feels like somethi is goin to burst open. sometimes feel like somones poking me in the back and twisting there finger hard on me. this has got worse over the year and my chest feels so heavy and im short of breath at times. today has scared me as i went to the shop and had a bag of shopping, was a little heavy but ive carried heavier! by time i got home i felt like someone was crushing my chest and like my heart was goin to give way!!! i cant get a doc app until next week but im angry that my doctor hasnt tested me any further for the chest pains.i feel so poorly, i also suffer migraines which have been terrible latley,i cant cope with any more pain!!!!
does anyone have hiatus hernia which cause soo much chest/back pain???
ive been on meds for acid reflux, doesnt help chest/back pains x
any help or advice will be great, thank you
Yes i have the hiatus hernia, but i am curious if you are seeing a cardiologist doctor ? If your not, i would definately schedule appointment with all these symptoms you are describing. You may need further testings and a cardiologist is where i would start for what you are describing here.
hi,thank u for your reply. no my doctor hasnt refered me to anyone for the chest and back pains,he says its all mechanical/muscular pain by i know its not. im seeing someone in the respituary dept...ive spelt that wrong!! in two weeks to see if i definatly have the emphysema,im also still under the gastro doc who says my hernia wont cause any major probs but im sure hes goin to discharge me when i see him next in january as he said hes done lots of tests and cant find anything serious! im worried about all the chest pains now as they gettin worse and again today i couldnt carry my shoppin bags! do u have a small hernia? and get loads of pain like me??? xx
Oh gosh, i have those terrible migraines too. I know what you mean by what next.
My hiatus hernia is at the opening of the stomach. You do need to be careful lifting. Even carrying groceries can be a painful problem.
Please keep posted here of your test results of emphysema

I think you need to have a full heart check up ECG, tests for Angina etc, I do have quite a few of your symptoms, but they don't last as long as what your saying, and they are not as severe, usually mine will last around 4-5 days if I have been stupid and eaten something I love but know is going to bite me back, Chilies, overdone Chocolate, or been at party. You have probably heard this but panicking and working yourself up does not help you, If you are really concerned about the chest pain GO to the local AE and tell them. I have they will check you over and if they feel it necessary will keep you in for observation for a couple of days, they have with me in past, when I started with the chest pains, I know how worrying they can be. But now know what they are, and how to deal with them.
I agree with the others. You need a all over physical and a stress test or sonogram of your heart.
What kind of test did you have when they found your hernia? Did the doctor do a biopsy of your stomach?
Nerves can do a lot and cause pain but you do need to get to the core of it.
Please let us know how you make out. Good luck.
