Is this really hiatal hernia????
Hi, I hope I am posting this in the right place. Im a 27 yr old female, last summer I experienced a weird feeling in my lower chest/upper abdominal area, kind of right under my breastbone. It feels like a pinching pain, almost if you can imagine a marble being squeezed through a straw and piercing pain during. It starts when my stomach is empty and I am hungry. Hunger pains bring it on double time, and the only thing that makes it go away is eating, or guzzling tons of water. Anyway, i went to the doctor and he told me I possibly have a hiatal hernia, for which he prescribed Omeprazole. I started taking it and in about 3-4 days, the pain got less frequent and eventually subsided after 2 weeks.
Well, now the pain is back. I got some more Omeprazole OTC which has not started working yet. I have been reading up on hiatal hernias and a lot of the information says that they DO NOT cause pain. Plus, I don't have any heartburn or acid reflux associated with it. Now I am confused and wondering if this is actually what I have???
The very first time I felt this pain was actually in 2006, when my father was very ill. I figured it was stress related due to the situation, and because it went away within minutes and wasn't reoccurring. Has anyone had any experience with these type of symptoms?? Or can anyone with hiatal hernia relate to these symptoms?
