Just diagnosed - Herpes Message Board

Was diagnosed with H1 three months ago. I knew something was wrong for the past 3 years. I wouldnt see any sores but I would get itchy. Obgyn would say it was a BActerial infection. I got treated for this like 4 times last year and obg would take a culture and it would come out bacterial infection. Last person i slept with was three years ago, and have been abstaining from sex since then. Later found out he had been cheating on me Last year i found out he had herpes. I got tested two times for herpes last year and came back negative. They would tell me this was accurate and shouldnt be retested. two months ago, I saw a new doc and and I got a pap alond with routine STD tests even though i havent been having sex for past 3 years. I had no sores at the time, just a discharge and two weeks later it came back positive for H 1. Everytime I'm itchy and irritated, this comes with a yellowish discharge. Is this normal and how accurate is the test. Could there be a possibility i was misdiagnosed? What are the symptoms of H1? is there any sort of discharge? Im so freakin confused

you seem to have the same thing happening with you that i do...i was diagonsed with h a few years ago but i had an ob when they told me what i had they didnt say if it was h1 or h2 though, but here the last few years i have been getting alot of so called bacterial infections, with the yellow discharge but like u said they always say its bacterial...i do have h but im not sure if that is one of the things it can cause is a yellow discharge usually i just get the open sore ob's when i have one but maybe the discharge is tied in there somehow....they always tell me its a yeast infection or bacterial from like using tampons. But they told u this discharge was from having h1?? I sometimes wonder if these dr's even know what they are talking about.

They never told me it was from H1. They would take a culture and it turned out bacterial. I used to get like paper cuts and small cuts. always told me it was from irritations and inflammations caused from bacterial infections. This was before they said I had H1.At the time that i got tested i didnt have any sores or sypmtoms. but its came back positive. he really didnt know why they last two times it came back negative even though they would tell me the tests were very accurate. When i asked about this past positive result, he said it was accurate. they i asked last two negative tests were accurate too, so i asked him why the conflicting answers. He really didnt know how to answer me. What sucks is that he wouldnt check me for my bacterial infection, toldl me i had to go to upstairs when before my positive diagnosis he would do it himself. I felt like he wasnt comfortable touching me now that it turned out positive. Made me feel like crap

May, did you test positive for HSV1 by a blood test, or was it a culture?

It was a culture. Said that although I didnt have any visible sores or lesions, what they probably had swabbed was a lesion inside my vagina or something like that. I thought it was weird because through a culture I read you couldnt tell what type herpes it was. For typing you had to take a blood test. Is this correct?
