a few important questions

First off i'm glad i found this board, i've read some or most of the posts and i've foundsome great information so far, so a big thanks to all the people who post there infor and i hope you know your helping others.

I was visually diagnosed a few days ago positive and given Valtrex. I guess i'm in the mid stage of a an OB and am wondering what to expect and what i can take to help the outbreak ? Along of course with any future outbreaks.

The only thing i've noticed so far besides the bumps is itching, itching and more itching but so far no pain. What's wierd is my lower back and waist are killing me.
I don't think i've ever not been able to move like this, or even bend down and pick something up, is this related to the H ???

A side effect of the valtrex ? I just know it hurts to walk, bend, twist, and it's all lower back, waistline pain. is this normal ?

P.S. anyone taking Valtrex and is it working for you without too many side effects?

P.S.S. - The final thought i have is how do you explain thing to your employer, when you can't work because of an outbreak or pain associated with an outbreak or something associated with H. ????

Re: a few important questions

I know i'm replying to myself but i wanted to add that other than my X girlfriends who most i'm still close to as friends and the woman i'm currently with i haven't told anyone not even my parents because i can't bare the looks.

My mother is so old fashioned and religious she'd surely say god gave me what i deserved for having sex out of wedlock. and I'd say No mom i would have been married and gotten it and then had to deal with a possible divorce LOL and you know how bad divorce is, in the catholic church lol

i'm in a wierd place right now taking Valtrex like it was some antibiotic that was going to clear up a chylamidia infection. I don't think as stressed as i am the whole has sunk in yet. I'm beginning to think there might even be a lawsuit involved in all of this but how the hell do you prove you got herpes from a surgical procedure ? here's a very brief thing of what i mean...

how can you be tested for everything, come up std free and then a year and two months later with no NEW partners, except my girlfriend who was also supposedly tested with no new partners either except me, suddenly out of the blue one weekend both end up with H ? We were having sex before and neither one of us had any symptoms prior to this last weekend. The last month or so we haven't been able to do anything because of me having kidney stone surgery.
After having the stent removed and healing we were finally able to do something and both ended up with H. his whole thing is odd beyond belief.

Re: 2 important questions

You could always tell your employer about the back pain and leave it at that. I have no idea if it's related to h--never heard of that.

They do not test for herpes in standard std testing unless you specifically request it. Did you or your gf? Also, h can lay dormant for decades in some people, so it would be very hard to prove where you got it from.

Re: 2 important questions

I'm assuming that since you both have H, you've had tests done, and they've come back positive. I'm going through something similar. no new partner for almost two years well, no partner at all and tested almost two years ago and results: clean.

In the span of December 03 to January 04 I have been tested twice for HSV-2 and have tested positive. My partner also tested positive, however they also cannot tell us when we were infected or who infected who. in other words we don't and probably won't know which one of us infected the other.

I can't tell you what to take, because i'm still trying to figure it out for myself so i'm reading all the messages on this board too. but I can tell you i did have muscle pain in my back and pain in my right thigh, right underneath my bum. It was mostly a weird tickly prickly feeling but it did hurt at times like sharp shooting pain especially if i was laying down and had to stand up it felt like i would buckle over. but it was brief, and it would quickly go back to tickly and prickly. I also had a low grade fever that lasted a little while after the sore healed. Oh, and i tried 3% H2O2 hydrogen peroxide and I think it healed the sore faster i mean the sore healed but stayed red it and i had a rash that wouldn't go away when i started to apply the h202 the rash healed and the sores disappeared. and i've been taking lysine, 500mg twice a day. I eat a lot of garlic any way but i am thinking of taking the supplements I even ordered oxygen supplements, oxygen kills anberobic viruses which herpes is, i hope it works I've read on this board that you have to be relentless when you use oxygen and H2O2 treatment. but I've read that it works.

keep reading the boards they've helped me a great deal, I know they'll hepl you too.

Re: 2 important questions

Thank you all for the replies, they are very much appreciated. My X girlfriend was tested and we're waiting on the blood test results for her. They told me they could do a blood test, but i'm waiting till this OB is over and then having everything inclding the kitchen sink tested lol

i'm gonna contact the urgent care that did my previous test and see if H was included on the test procedures.

My current girlfriend and i are working through this, so anyone worried about that should know it IS possible to work through it and still have a relationship

i wish everyone the best and i hope you find the info you need earthchick, when i first got it i was devastated, but now it doesn't seem it's going to be the burden and life "ruiner" i thought it was. My first outbreak is very tame and other than having the libido from hell and being able to do anything about it, the Valtrex has helped immensely. The muscle pain is annoying and my skin feels dried out almost like a sunburn in the boxer covered areas.

like the uncomfortable skin feeling you get after chickenpox
